About the Play

Set in an unnamed city in modern India, MUAVZE (मुआवज़े) is a hilarious account of how a modern city awaits a riot, and how everyone seeks to profit by it. One of Bhisham Sahni's best known plays, Muavze has been performed many times all over the world. Our production will be imagined differently from typical presentations of the play in India. Aided by physical comedy, 'Bollywood' song and dance, and a quirky set, Muavze promises to get Naatak’s 2018 Season off to a rollicking start.
