In this sequel to Bombay Talkies, our 2023 musical, Raghu the clapper boy continues his waltz through the Hindi film industry of the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, assisting in shoots and song sequences, serving as chauffeur, gateman, teaboy and confidante, and secretly shaping the careers of Lata, Kishore, Rajesh, Amitabh, Aamir, Shah Rukh and others. Punctuated by well-known film songs and lesser-known tidbits, Bombay Talkies 2 is a romp through the Hindi film industry, capturing its glitz, glamour and insouciance, its soul-stirring music, and its complete detachment from the world that sustains it. The play will be performed with live music and dance.

Did you miss Bombay Talkies in 2023? You can watch it here, but Bombay Talkies 2 is designed as a stand-alone play that does not assume familiarity with the previous one.

Auditions for Actors

2. Two days before the audition, you will receive a time slot between 9 AM and 11 AM (on June 20).
3. On June 20, come with a 60-second performance piece. Choose something from a play, a novel, or a film. Don't write your own. The ideal piece involves movement on stage and enables you to display a range of emotions.
4. Perform when called upon. We are looking for stage presence and fluency in Hindi.
5. At 12 noon, we will announce a shortlist and call you back for a second round at 12:30 pm.
6. The audition will end by 2 pm.

Roles Available

We are looking for 12 dancers, female or male, with grace, rhythm and energy, and the enthusiasm to rehearse hard for a slick, professional production. If you have classical training, please mention it, but most dances will be semi-classical or Bollywood-like. One or two may be kathak.

3. At 9.30 AM, you will be asked to perform the piece.
