About the Play

After listening to the Bhagavad Gita recited by Lord Krishna, Arjun decides not to fight the battle of Mahabharat. He leads the Pandavs away from the battle field into a forest, where, followed by Draupadi, Duryodhan, and Krishna, and tutored by an 'anti-Krishna', they re-write Bhagavad Gita as a book fit for an atheist. The entire play rhymes.

Muavze

Playwright: Bhisham Sahni
Director: Sujit Saraf
Producer: Sareeka Malhotra and Manish Sabu
Set in an unnamed city in modern India, MUAVZE (मुआवज़े) is a hilarious account of how a modern city awaits a riot, and how everyone seeks to profit by it. One of Bhisham Sahni's best known plays, Muavze has been performed many times all over the world. Our production will be imagined differently from typical presentations of the play in India. Aided by physical comedy, 'Bollywood' song and dance, and a quirky set, Muavze promises to get Naatak’s 2018 Season (//www.naatak.org/season-pass-2017/) off to a rollicking start.
